So the first episode follows a boy named Souichi who has the power to put curses on his classmates through the use of dolls. Throughout the episodes his desire for attention from his peers is more annoying than scary the only thing that holds him to any sort of main character standard is his undeniably strong powers of deception and curses. In the final part of the episode he sort of becomes a joke when his plan falls through and is saved by his older brother from “being killed”. All in all it was kinda lacklustre like it was all for nothing making you not care about the character and story. For this I give a 6 or 7 out of 10.
But in the last three minutes of that episode there was a short story about a girl becoming a doll which showed so much promise from it being something that really creeped me out (I don’t know if that is because I have an irrational fear of dolls anyway). It was also pretty interesting like if the whole episode was about that, it would have been 100% better. Judging from this, the program definitely shows promise and I really hope it can recover from a bad start as I had really high hopes from the beginning when it was announced.
So here we go into another season of pain keeping up with the brand new shows that are about to come out just after the relief of finishing last season ever extending my dropped list on MAL. This is going to be a very brief look and recommendation as I would like to go in depth about the individual anime in the future. I am going to order this list by my personal hype for each of the series 1 being most hyped and 5 being least. I will watch every anime in every season so this list is just the ones I have heard about and look forward to watching the most if there is something that really stands out when it comes to watching I will be sure to let you guys know about it so here we go.
I have so much hype for this season of Overlord this is the most hyped I have been for a long time. The long awaited return of my all time best girl Albedo! I have high hopes for this season, if you haven’t checked out the first season please do it’s a refreshing take on a mostly tired out genre.
This one completely has no hype for me but, and a big but, I am so interested to see what comes of this. I have heard so many good things about the manga as it is so out there and different from it’s moe-ish style. Plus Anime-man himself Joey recommends this so definitely going to give this a watch.
Anime about Shogi to follow in the footsteps of March Comes in Like a Lion with a light hearted comedy. Yeah I am down for that plus cute girls!! But seriously if the author is anything to be judged by talk about first impressions the guy came to an interview wearing nothing but a huge Shogi piece! WHAT A LEGEND. I have a feeling that this show is going to be a great fun.
The story for this seems so interesting and original in a day and age where everything has already been done. I am looking forward to seeing the amazing art that you can see in the PV’s and hope that the story can hold up to my expectations. This may be something that I do a post about in the future.
The God of horror manga gets an anime I don’t really read any kind of manga because it is not easy to get hold of where I live and I know about this guy this is really going to be great. It has been such a long time since I have seen something that actually looks really scary and this definitely tops it. Just by going through the website which if I must say is a work of art itself (check that out here) even with my poor understanding of Japanese it is easy to navigate and the story page is just top tier creepy. I would say this is a must watch for horror fans.
Okay thats all for now this ended up taking a lot longer than I thought due to having to photoshop some of the pictures myself which took way too long and also doing all the links and stuff. I hope you are happy with this everyone.
Here is the synopsis thank you MAL “Tanya Degurechaff is a young soldier infamous for predatorial-like ruthlessness and an uncanny, tactical aptitude, earning her the nickname of the “Devil of the Rhine.” Underneath her innocuous appearance, however, lies the soul of a man who challenged Being X, the self-proclaimed God, to a battle of wits—which resulted in him being reincarnated as a little girl into a world of magical warfare. Hellbent on defiance, Tanya resolves to ascend the ranks of her country’s military as it slowly plunges into world war, with only Being X proving to be the strongest obstacle in recreating the peaceful life she once knew. But her perceptive actions and combat initiative have an unintended side effect: propelling the mighty Empire into becoming one of the most powerful nations in mankind’s history”.
So lets begin to look at the world of Youjo Senki (The Saga of Tanya the Evil), basically the show makes sure that viewers know that it is all fiction and none of the persons, groups, places, laws and names have any relation to the real world. So lets call this alternate universe world 2 for the sake of making this simpler and our universe is world 1 but we will get to why that is important later.
As I watched through the first episode of YS and how they built the setting it was very well done it was a military, semi-mecha magic world that on a first glance was really interesting and kind of resembled a mix between Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) and Girls und Panzer but, upon further inspection I got a strange uncomfortable, uneasy feeling about this program. So for starters the nation that the protagonist is part of is called The Empire and I am sure that any kind of nation that has Empire in it from history and fiction is innately bad. A prime example of this is the British Empire you only have to do a little research to find out all the war crimes they committed only 100 years ago. Next we have a Star Wars reference we all know how bad the Empire is in that don’t we. Well at least the Empire isn’t doing anything wrong in YS right? well they are only going around the orphanages and enlisting children with magic powers into the army to fight a strangely one sided war against every other nation in this world and when I say one sided it is the Empire that are doing the best off. Other than that why are all the names of the other nations practically identical to our worlds including their flag’s and the shape of the land is this just lack of imagination or hinting at something deeper.
Now lets move on to the time period in this world it goes from about 1923 to 1926 which is shortly after the first World War had ended in world 1 and way before the start of World War 2 so we can’t make any similarities there. One of the events of the show that specifically stuck in my mind was the bombing of the weapons factories in Dakia this seemed ever so reminiscent of the German bombing raids over London in the second World War the way they say that their just bombing the factories was the same excuse that the German bombers used during The Blitz which killed over 40,000 civilians.
In conclusion the resemblance’s were so similar to the real world that it kind of makes you think that this program is sympathising with the Nazi administration during the second world war. There were many elements that they could have changed like the names of nations and the land masses that would have given me a completely different experience, the fact that these factors hit so close to home completely put me off this anime. But I am sure that it is an interesting story with very good elements just the ideals behind it are not that friendly.
So this is where it begins. I don’t really know where to start maybe… Welcome. I wonder what the future holds for this site maybe something exiting, I hope so! I feel better already knowing that I have somewhere to put my thoughts.
I will post at least once a day even if it is just shitposting.
I will attempt one Anime related post a day, one Fashion related post a week and one Life related post a month.
I will reply to everyone that makes contact with me.
